Blood glutathione and non-glucose reducing substances in diabetes.

چکیده
The rate of hydrolysis of esters in solution is highly dependent on the nature of the alcohols, e.g. hydrolysis of methyl acetate is twice as fast as that of ethyl, n-propyl and n-butyl acetate and six times as fast as that of i8opropyl acetate (Smith & Olsson, 1925). The fact that the different wool esters hydrolyse at approximately the same rate suggests that the rate-controlling step in the heterogeneous reaction may not be the actual hydrolysis but a diffusion process.

Antioxidant properties of Momordica Charantia (bitter gourd) seeds on Streptozotocin induced diabetic rats.
The aim of the present study is to investigate the antioxidant activities of the aqueous extract of seeds of two varieties, namely a country and hybrid variety of Momordica charantia (MCSEt1 and MCSEt2) respectively in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. Oral administration of both the seed extracts at a concentration of 150 mg/kg b.w for 30 days showed a significant decrease in fasting blood...

The present study was carried out to evaluate the physiological effects of seaweed supplementation on blood glucose levels, lipid profile, and antioxidant enzyme activities in subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Subjects were randomized into either a control group or a seaweed supplementation group. Pills with equal parts of dry powdered sea tangle and sea mustard were provided to the seawe...
متن کاملS-allylcysteine Improves Streptozotocin-Induced Alterations of Blood Glucose, Liver Cytochrome P450 2E1, Plasma Antioxidant System, and Adipocytes Hormones in Diabetic Rats
BACKGROUND S-allylcysteine, a garlic derivative, could have a protective effect against pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus. OBJECTIVES Sustained free radical generation and oxidative damage to system leads to the final conclusion phase of diabetes and also it coexists with a constant diminution in the antioxidant status. The present study aims to evaluate the therapeutic effects of S-allylcyste...
متن کاملChangesin the SaccharoidFractionin Ratswith
“Saccharoid fraction,” defined as the nonglucose reducing substances in blood, increases both in hyperglycemia (blood glucose concentration exceeding 280 mg/dI) and hypoglycemia (blood sugar less than 65 mg/dI) in rats. This increase is not completely accounted for by glutathione, glucuronic acid, ascorbic acid, uric acid, and creatinine. Some of the constituents of saccharoid fraction seem to ...
متن کاملEVALUATION OF GLUTATHIONE PEROXIDE ACTIVITY AND OXIDATIVE STRESS IN TYPE 2 DIABETIC PATIENTS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH SERUM GLUCOSE LEVEL AND BLOOD LIPID PARAMETERS IN A CASE-CONTROL STUDY
Background & Aims: Diabetes has been the most common metabolic disorder in recent decades. Oxidative stress and its related factors play an important role in the onset and complications of diabetes. In this study, glutathione peroxidase activity and oxidative stress indices in serum of type 2 diabetes patients and their correlation with blood glucose and lipid parameters were evaluated. Materi...
